DOES IT MATTER WHAT I FEED MY DOG? YES!
DOES IT MATTER WHAT I FEED MY DOG? YES!
If you look at it from purely an economic standpoint, good food can be cheaper. WHAT? Yes, good food, like Flint River Ranch, that is oven-baked and not extruded is denser and therefore your pup will need to eat about 20-25% less than the grocery store brand. And because it’s so concentrated, there is more value with less food consumed. The added benefit is that you’ll also likely find your pet’s stools have less odor and are less prolific, which means less scooping and cleaning up.
EXTRUSION VS. QUALITY OVEN-BAKING:
Extrusion is a process where food is cooked by quick steaming, usually 3 minutes or less, and then extruding it under extreme pressure through a metal die to shape the food. The extruded food cannot cook completely during this quick process and requires the addition of many harmful chemical preservatives such as BHA, BHT, and Ethoxyquin to maintain a reasonable product shelf life. These chemical products may be associated with allergic reactions, dental disease, dry skin, and overall poor health and degenerative organ-dysfunction.
OVEN-BAKING PROCESS:
In the oven-baking process, a small 2-inch size biscuit is baked, moving slowly through the oven, then broken into smaller, irregular kibble ranging in size from tiny morsels to about 1/2 inch. The smaller morsels are important, as they will digest very quickly in the dogs system helping create immediate nutritional value for your pet. The larger, crunch kibble naturally cleans teeth, exercises the gums and freshens breath. Feeding Flint River Ranch quality products, you will be able to see the difference in your pet’s health, skin, coat, energy level and quality life-style.
INTRODUCING A NEW FOOD TO YOUR DOG:
During the adjustment period to the new food mix half and half with the pets old food for a week and then add vegetables such as carrots, celery, and green beans your pet will enjoy as he/she adjusts to the new denser food since you’ll need to remember to feed 25% less to prevent your pet from gaining weight. Your pet may experience soft stools for a few days during the adjustment period as his/her digestive tract is cleaned out. Insure plenty of fresh water is available and allow enough time to properly switch over and assimilate to the new formula. If loose stools continue past a few days or beyond a week, please consult your pet health care professional.
